Party Downton Abbey, a fanfic mashup by Brad O’Farrell for Slacktory
Adam Scott observes Mr Bates and the sinister gay footman cary off a dead body, but he’s still doing that one face he always does, and he’s like, “Is there REALLY no consequence for murder in this abbey? Like. Shouldn’t there be an investigation or something? Or at the very least finger-pointing? What’s the point of even killing people off if it has no real impact on anything, you know?”

Alex, isn’t this your dream show?

In line with my post about the end of “snark”…

Jimmy Fallon’s “Slow Jam the News” seems a more fitting and contemporary way of making the news funny than Weekend Update or even Jon Stewart’s shtick.  At least in this clip, there is no direct ironic challenge to recent events - no “what the hell?” or “really?" moment, but instead, a more subtle critique of the motives and passion on each side of the stimulus debate.  You actually run the risk of learning something from this more intellectual style of satire.
